Ingredients: -1/3 cup dried red chili flakes -23 oz tomato sauce -3oz tomato paste (half a small can) -1 Tbsp salt -1 Tbsp sugar -1 cup water Instructions: 1) Over medium heat toast the chili flakes in a dry skillet until they are dark brown. This usually takes 3-5 minutes. 2) Add tomato sauce, paste, salt, sugar, and water. Simmer for 10 minutes. Taste and adjust seasoning. It will taste bland without enough salt. Cool and refrigerate. Notes: 1) WARNING, this will taste very spicy when you try the salsa hot. Once cooled it wont be as spicy and flavors will meld. 2) Make sure you use enough salt! 3) Salsa tasted better once cold.
